just watched your 360Flex pres on Adobe Media Player, really interesting, and you're timing for me is perfect.
We have been developing a flex app with mySQL, AMFPHP and Cairngorm, all was going swimmingly. We have been working on this project for a couple of months now, for a large and very demanding client here in the UK.
Last week I had an email from the client informing us that we would have to change to now be able to get the flex application to talk to an application on one of their PC servers using the applications COM toolkit (a program called 'Exchequer' by IRIS). (I could have cried!) And also remove the mySQL database and change to Microsoft SQL Server.
So the first think I thought of when reading this dreadful client email was coldFusion as I seem to remember reading that Cf can talk to COM Objects as long as I setup a coldFusion server on the same machine as the application and its COM tools (I hope I'm correct in thinking this, otherwise I'm lost for ideas).
My problem is I'm not a Cf guy. So I got to get up to speed VERY quickly.
After watching your pres I was a least a little encouraged to see that the coldFusion amf works with my VOs and remote calls just as they are (just about).
I'll cut this long message short, as I'm sure you've plenty of your own problems to deal with. What I'm looking for is some guidance on where I can find resources that will help me get up to speed as quickly as possible with coldFusion and its use with Flex. Also, I'm looking for any resources that could help with the the problem of dealing with COM objects in Flex by using coldFusion to communicate between them.
I';d be really grateful if you could drop me an email if there's any suggestions you could give me to get things moving again here.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Again, cheers for the presentation, it at least stopped me wanted to just format all my drives and get a Job picking litter or something.
cheers mate
